Chain Loop Scarf

This beautiful scarf/necklace is not something you see everyday, it is sure to turn heads. It can be worn as a long necklace or as a scarf when lopped around twice. You won't need to worry about tangles because the yarn handle keeps all the strands together. It is the perfect piece to dress up any casual outfit. It is so easy you must try it!

If you are too busy to make one, you can buy one Here on my Etsy.

Length: Aprox. 26"
Materials
You will need about *1- 2 balls of Lion Brand Hometown USA 100% Acrylic Yarn. It all depends on how tight you crochet. I know I crochet more loosely so I used more yarn;
Or any similar bulky yarn.
Yarn needle
Hook: I used a N-9.00 mm
Gauge: There isn't any since you will be only using chains.

Abbreviations:
Sl St- Slip Stich

*UPDATE: Hey so I've been getting a lot of feed back which is great! And I just want to add a few helpful points.

  • So I just added up in the materials that for the amount of yarn needed really all depends on how you crochet.
  • So with that, if you crochet tightly you will need to add more than the 125 chains to get the length you want. You basically want the loop to hit just bellow you belly button so you have enough to loop it around one more time and not be so tight.
  • This pattern is very easy and flexible so play around with it and do what works for you!
-Ashley

Pattern
To make 1 chain loop.
-Chain 125
-Sl st to the beginning creating a circle/loop.
-Then tie off the ends and cut off any excess yarn.
Create about 12 individual loops. You can add more if you would like it to be thicker.

After completing all the loops, you gather them together in a bunch so that the ends all line up.
The with the extra yarn you wrap it tightly around the entire bundle, making sure to cover up the tied off ends.
This becomes the "handle" and you can choose how wide you want it to be.

Note: Make sure to wrap it around enough times so that the bundle underneath isn't showing.

Once you get it to a point where you're satisfied with it, cut the yarn leaving enough to use the yarn needle and weave it into the handle. Cut any excess.

and then....your DONE!

(I hope to eventually add more pictures so its easier to go through*)

  3. Just double checking, so your using two strands to crochet together, or is it one strand?

    1. It is just one strand.
But you could use two if you have yarn that isn't as bulky.

  7. Hey, I think the scarf is darling but I don't know how to knit. Would this be easy enough for a beginner? How long did it take you to make?

    1. Well I actually don't know how to knit either (but I plan on learning haha).
But I actually crochet, with a hook?
And this is super easy, you're making chains, which is like the first thing you learn how to do when you crochet.
It took me about 15min -about 30min. It depends if I'm busy or not.
      I hope that helps

  8. I guess I'm a little slow but... I don't get it.
Do you make a bunch of chains and bind them together and put the ends together to make a loop? Or do you make one really long chain and wrap it around to make multiple layers and bind the 2 ends?

    1. Okay,
So to clarify, they are 12 individual loops in one scarf.
I chain125 and connect them to make 1 of the 12 loops.
      Does that make sense?

  21. I saw your post and thought the "scarf/necklace" was a great idea. Since I live in the tropics I made the chain shorter (100 chs) and only 6 of them using two colors. I decided why stop and weave in ends, etc. at the end of the slip stitch and just continued on with another chain and kept adding. I changed colors the 2nd and 5th chain. This way they all ended up at the same place and less ends to weave in. I bound it up, added a lovely silver pieced earring that was large and square and too heavy for my ear and poked it though the base of the bound area. It really made my outfit and I loved that I could do the whole thing in less than 30 minutes! Thanks for the cute pattern. I'm going to make some and maybe use a large wooden bead in the middle near the join and bind the necklace on either side of the bead! So many options here.
